«Ustalyk» (temirshi) – blacksmith art
“Usta” is a master blacksmith who produces a variety of metal and iron household products, household tools, weapons, etc. Sometimes he is called “temirshi” (blacksmith). In the past, “Usta” blacksmiths who worked in metalworking were divided into “Kara Usta”, “Ak Usta”, where “Kara Usta”/blacksmith master, whose craft is to forge metal.
The blacksmith holds the hot iron with tongs in his left hand, places it on the anvil, strikes the iron with a medium-heavy hammer, and then with a hammer. A carpenter’s hammer is called “kol balga” - a hand hammer. Its weight varies depending on the size of the products being manufactured.
Types of metal processing:
“Somdau” is a thickening of a certain part of the iron.
“Kaktau” means thinning metal by hammer blows by placing it on an anvil.
"Shyndau" - metal hardening. The blades of tools such as scythe, scythe, spade, hoe, hoe are struck with the sharpened edge of a hammer and then leveled.
“Sugaru” – cooling of metal. If red-hot iron is immediately immersed in water, it will immediately harden.
“Zhasytu” - heating the metal to red heat, and then gradually cooling it.
