Shashu
is a ritual performed by the Kazakh people, which is a symbol of joy. Shashu is
an ancient Kazakh custom, translated from Kazakh “shashu”– to throw. This
ceremony is usually performed during family holidays and celebrations.The rite symbolizes prosperity, sweet life and abundance. Sweets, cookies, candies, coins
are thrown at the guests, as if showering them with well-being at big and
important events. This can be matchmaking, wedding, the birth of a child,
circumcision of the baby's fetters, etc.
