Zhamby atu – a festive competition of Kazakh horsemen for marksmanship in archery
Archery competitions are an ancient sport of the Turkic peoples. Traditionally, the main purpose of zhamby was a silver disc made from a thin thread of a horse's mane at the top of a high pole. The history of the origin of zhambyatudates from the end of the 13th – beginning of the 14th
century in modern Kazakhstan and adjacent territories, it is possible to
reconstruct the history of zhambyatu, corresponding to the scientifically
established time of the spread of zhamda atu as a means of payment.
