A solo exhibition titled «Planetary Weaving: Telluric Rhythms and Entangled Memories» by Korean new media artist and composer Sunjeong Hwang has opened at the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
During the event, Akmaral Ibraeva, Deputy Director for Research at the National Museum of Kazakhstan, addressed the guests. She expressed confidence that the exhibition would offer audiences new ideas and unique impressions, while enabling a deeper understanding of the connection between humans and nature.
«I believe that such cultural projects strengthen cultural cooperation between Kazakhstan and Korea and contribute to the development of international dialogue in the field of contemporary art», she said.
The floor was then given to the exhibition’s author, Sunjeong Hwang. He expressed his gratitude to the National Museum, the Korean Cultural Center, and all participants, noting that cultural ties between the two countries will continue to grow.
«For me, it is a great joy to present my work in Astana – a city where diverse histories, landscapes, and rhythms intersect. I hope that as you experience the exhibition, you will not only observe, but also listen, feel, and perhaps notice subtle changes in your own perception», the artist said.
At the end of the event, Sunjeong Hwang presented his audiovisual composition on the museum’s large screen.
Overall, the exhibition is designed as a multisensory space, featuring more than ten works that combine video, sound, movement, and visual imagery. Through installations and sound compositions, the artist creates a unique environment that allows visitors to sense the rhythms of nature and invites them to reflect on the interconnectedness of all elements within the planetary ecosystem.
The exhibition will be open to visitors until May 24.
