Within the walls of the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a series of meaningful and educational events were organized as part of the «Nauryznama» decade, dedicated to Shanyrak Day. One of the highlights was an ethnographic lecture titled «The Yurt as a Cultural Heritage of the Kazakh People», delivered by Zhannat Amanova, a curator of the museum’s book collection, in the «Traditional Kazakh Culture» hall.
The lecture attracted great interest from museum visitors and was marked by high engagement. During the session, it was thoroughly explained that the yurt is not merely a dwelling, but a vivid reflection of the worldview and spiritual identity of the Kazakh people. The significance and deep philosophical meaning of each structural element – such as the shanyrak, kerege, and uyk – were comprehensively explored, highlighting the enduring vitality of this great ancestral heritage. The harmony of the yurt with nature, its adaptability to a nomadic lifestyle, and its unique role as a national value were also emphasized.
In addition, a thematic tour titled «The Secrets of the Chest and the Art of Carpets» was held at the museum, attended by students of School-Lyceum No. 72 in Astana. During the tour, students gained a deeper understanding that chests and carpets are not merely household items, but symbols of family prosperity and spiritual continuity. The hidden meanings of carpet ornaments and the artistic features of traditional crafts left a strong impression on the younger generation.
The tour was conducted at a high level by Aigul Rakhtayeva, a methodologist of the guided tour department, and guide Aliya Makhai, who provided participants with rich and informative content.
Through such enriching events, the deep roots and rich heritage of national culture are instilled in the younger generation, ensuring the continuity of traditions across generations.
