A master class titled «Skilled Hands Are the Path to Happiness» was held at the National Museum.
The purpose of the event was to introduce participants to the rich heritage of Kazakh traditional crafts, foster respect for folk art, and develop students’ aesthetic and creative abilities through creating petroglyph images on felt by hand.
During the session, students became acquainted with the concept of art and the history of petroglyphs – symbols carved into stone. In addition, information was provided on the importance of wool, which has been widely used in the daily life of nomadic peoples since ancient times, and its connection with ancient rock art was explained.
The practical part of the master class was conducted by Sholpan Didar, a member of the Eurasian Designers Union, a highly qualified specialist with 22 years of teaching experience in «Architecture» and «Design» at higher education institutions, an expert in art management, eco-design, composition, painting, and academic drawing, and currently the Head of the Art Studies Department of the National Museum of RK. She demonstrated the techniques of depicting petroglyphs on felt, linking ancient art with the modern world, and shared her professional experience with the students.
The students completed their works with great enthusiasm and creativity. The master class was aimed at increasing young people’s interest in national art and developing their aesthetic appreciation.
Students of School-Gymnasium No. 87 named after Abai Kunanbayev in Astana took part in the master class.
