The international exhibition «SHAFT: Secrets of hidden threads» has opened

The international exhibition «SHAFT: Secrets of Hidden Threads» has opened at the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The opening ceremony was attended by Erlan Dakenov, Chairman of the Committee for Culture of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, who emphasized the importance of the international project grounded in the continuity of history and culture. In his speech, he noted that the work of artist Daria Nurtaza is closely connected with a rich historical and cultural heritage and wished her success in her creative endeavors.

The exhibition features works from Daria Nurtaza’s «Kokonja» series, which reflect the spiritual connection between the past and the present.

The official opening was also attended by Acting Director of the National Museum Sairan Duysenov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Türkiye to Kazakhstan Mustafa Kapucu, Head of the Department of Prehistoric Archaeology at Istanbul University, Coordinator of the «Taş Tepeler» project, Head of the Göbeklitepe–Karahantepe archaeological excavations, Professor Dr. Necmi Karul.

The conceptual foundation of the project is based on the term shaft – a specialized archaeological concept referring to a method used for studying cultural layers.

The exhibition includes one installation-style yurt, four artistic panels, as well as multimedia materials that enrich the exhibition’s content, such as video recordings, photographs, and other contemporary visual formats.

The international exhibition will be open to the public for two months on the 4th floor of the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
